Beth Israel Lahey Health

Beth Israel Lahey Health is hiring a full-time Phlebotomist for its Lab Outreach Community program in Dedham, Norfolk County — a hands-on clinical role centered on delivering accurate specimen collection and outstanding patient care within a primary care or medical office setting.

About the Role

As a Phlebotomist supporting the Lab Outreach Community in Dedham, you will be the patient's first point of contact for laboratory services. You'll work from a Patient Service Center draw station embedded in a Beth Israel Lahey Health Primary Care practice or a dedicated suite within a medical office building, ensuring every specimen is collected safely, labeled correctly, and processed without delay.

What You'll Do

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws on adult and pediatric patients with skill and compassion
  • Verify patient identity and match requisitions accurately before every collection
  • Label, sort, centrifuge, and prepare specimens for transport in compliance with laboratory protocols
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked draw station throughout each shift
  • Follow all infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines consistently
  • Document collection activity accurately in the electronic health record
  • Communicate clearly with patients, providers, and lab staff to resolve order questions or special-handling requirements
  • Uphold chain-of-custody procedures for any specimens requiring special processing

What We're Looking For

  • Phlebotomy certification (CPT or equivalent) or completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program
  • Demonstrated proficiency with venipuncture across a range of patient populations
  • Solid understanding of specimen types, collection tubes, and handling requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in labeling and documentation
  • Calm, patient-centered communication style — particularly with anxious or difficult-stick patients
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced ambulatory or outreach draw-station environment
  • Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently when onsite leadership is not present
