Patient Access Registrar

SWLA Center for Health Services is seeking a dedicated Full‑Time Patient Access Registrar to join our front‑desk team in Jennings, Jefferson Davis Parish.

About the Role

The Patient Access Registrar serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming experience while handling essential administrative tasks that support smooth clinic operations.

What You'll Do

• Greet patients and visitors with a courteous, professional demeanor
• Distribute, collect, and verify intake forms and other required documentation
• Enter and update patient demographic and insurance information accurately in the electronic health record system
• Answer incoming phone calls, directing inquiries to the appropriate department or staff member
• Collect co‑payments, fees, and other payments, issuing receipts as needed
• Maintain a tidy and organized reception area, ensuring supplies are stocked
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations and organizational policies regarding patient confidentiality
• Assist with appointment scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellations as directed
• Perform additional clerical duties to support the medical front desk team

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in medical office administration is a plus
• Previous experience in a patient‑facing role, preferably within a healthcare setting
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on delivering excellent customer service
• Proficiency with basic computer applications and willingness to learn clinic‑specific software
• Attention to detail and accuracy when entering data and handling paperwork
• Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment while remaining calm and courteous
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes is advantageous
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and complying with privacy standards
