About the Role
As a Partner in our benefits practice, you'll guide clients through intricate employee benefits and executive compensation issues while building and developing business relationships. Your strong foundation in ERISA law, plan design, and tax compliance will shape how employers structure and manage their benefits strategies for maximum effectiveness and legal protection.
What You'll Do
- Advise employers on qualified retirement plan design, implementation, and ongoing compliance matters
- Counsel clients on non-qualified deferred compensation arrangements and executive benefit programs
- Draft and review employee benefit plan documents, policies, and related agreements
- Guide clients through regulatory audits, IRS inquiries, and compliance challenges
- Represent clients in benefit-related disputes and negotiations
- Mentor junior attorneys and shape the growth of our benefits practice
- Build and maintain client relationships across the private and nonprofit sectors
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience as an employee benefits attorney with a strong generalist foundation in ERISA matters
- Deep knowledge of qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, health and welfare benefits, and executive compensation
- Proven track record of successful client relationships and business development
- Strong writing and negotiation skills with the ability to translate complex regulations into practical solutions
- Partnership-level experience managing client matters independently
- Licensed to practice law in Illinois or ability to become licensed
- Commitment to professional excellence and continuing legal education in benefits law
