Catholic Relief Services is seeking a Technical Advisor I – Safe and Dignified Programming to strengthen the quality and reach of humanitarian work across more than 100 countries. This full-time, globally remote role offers a mission-driven professional the chance to shape how protection-centered programming is designed and delivered worldwide.
About the Role
As a Technical Advisor I – Safe and Dignified Programming at Catholic Relief Services, you will guide CRS and partner teams through the design and delivery of high-impact programs that uphold the safety and dignity of the communities we serve. Working in step with CRS program quality standards, donor expectations, and recognized sector practices, your guidance will help determine how effective, adaptive, and forward-thinking CRS' Safe and Dignified Programming is around the globe. This is a tentative 18-month engagement (July 1, 2026 – December 31, 2027).
Key Responsibilities
- Help shape and roll out agency-wide strategies, standards, tools, and proven practices that meaningfully engage partners, donors, and governments, while integrating gender, protection mainstreaming, and disaster risk reduction across sectors.
- Deliver technical guidance to project teams both remotely and in the field, supporting strategic planning and the sound application of standards, partnership principles, tools, and monitoring and evaluation.
- Contribute to the technical design of proposals — supporting concept and full-proposal preparation, submission, and approval, and serving as a technical writer when needed.
- Advise teams on aligning donor priorities and technical requirements with CRS' approach.
- Build the capacity of staff and partners by developing learning strategies and curricula, leading trainings and workshops, and coaching.
- Gather and analyze program data, document lessons learned, and feed insights into the Safe and Dignified Programming learning agenda.
- Nurture relationships with donors, peer agencies, and research institutions, and represent CRS in relevant forums.
Qualifications
- Solid grasp of technical principles in Safe and Dignified Programming, plus related disciplines for a cross-sectoral approach.
- Proven experience in project design, proposal development, and technical writing.
- Familiarity with capacity-strengthening practices and program monitoring, evaluation, and analysis.
- Skill in building relationships and influencing donors, peer organizations, and faith-based civil society partners, grounded in partnership principles.
- Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, sound judgment, and confident facilitation, mentoring, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), web conferencing tools, and knowledge-sharing platforms.
- A Master's Degree in Social Inclusion or Protection Studies is an asset; ability to cover UTC +0 to UTC +4 time zones preferred.
- Fluency in English required, along with fluency in French, Spanish, or Arabic; additional languages welcome.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% (deployments of one to three months) and to live and work in challenging environments wherever the agency's needs require.
