Objectives of this role:
- Be a force for automation within the low latency network team at DRW
- Bring Devops best practices to the Low latency network team
- Automate software release processes for software and new hardware
- Build CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, manage infrastructure as code, and optimize network engineering workflows
- Become the SME for our virtualized and containerized/cloud deployments
- Own the single source of truth and its network data models
- Design, prototype and bring to production any framework required to achieve your mandate
Day to Day responsibilities:
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for network configurations and changes (repo, test, validate, deploy).
- Collaborate with Network Engineering team to standardize network designs, device catalogs, and topology models (e.g., NetBox, IPAM).
- Develop automation for day-to-day network tasks (device onboarding, upgrades, backups, policy enforcement) and self-service capabilities for internal teams.
- Advocate and work with the operations team on best practices around automation
- Support all of our VM, cloud and bare metal deployments
- Own our automation backlog to identify and automate repetitive tasks
- Ensure security and compliance in automation pipelines (RBAC, secrets management, least privilege, audit logging, change control).
- Create automated tests, dry-runs, and validation steps to prevent unintended changes (linting, pre-change checks, anomaly detection).
- Maintain runbooks, standard operating procedures, and documentation for network automation and procedures.
- Participate in an on-call rotation
- Support scheduled after-hours maintenance
Required skills and qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience working as a DevOps, NetDevOps or as a site reliability engineer
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Networking, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Devops certified with at least one of the following providers: AWS, Azure, GCP, DCA, CKA, Red Hat, LFCS or Cisco Devnet
- Proficiency in Python (or another scripting language) for automation and tooling.
- Strong Linux system administration skills
- Proficiency with git, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI
- Strong experience in configuration management/automation (Ansible or similar) or Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud architectures.
- Experience with Virtualization / Hypervisors: Proxmox , VMware
- Experience with containerization tools such as Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift
- Experience with monitoring and logging tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Telegraf, ELK/Elastic, Splunk)
- Solid understanding of network fundamentals (BGP, VLANs/VXLANs, VRF, ACLs, QoS) and device ecosystems (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Fortinet, etc.)
