About the Role

As a Middle School History/Humanities Teacher at the IDEAL School of Manhattan, you will design and lead engaging lessons that build critical thinking, strong writing, and a genuine curiosity about the past and present. Reporting to the Middle School Head, this is a faculty position (full-time, exempt) based at 5 Hanover Square in the Prince area of Manhattan, with a projected start in late August 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver standards-aligned history and humanities curriculum tailored to middle school learners.
• Create an inclusive classroom that affirms and accepts the full identities of every student.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and support academic excellence.
• Assess student progress and provide thoughtful, growth-oriented feedback.
• Collaborate with colleagues and the Middle School Head on curriculum and school-wide initiatives.
• Partner with families to support each student's development and well-being.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience teaching history, social studies, or humanities, ideally at the middle school level.
• A commitment to inclusive education and to honoring the diverse identities of students and colleagues.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.
• The flexibility and creativity to adapt instruction for a wide range of learners.
• Availability to teach on-site in Manhattan; this is not a remote position.
