About the Role
As a Middle School ELA Teacher, you'll lead engaging classroom instruction that develops students' critical reading, writing, and communication skills. Reporting to your school's Principal, you'll create a learning environment where every scholar feels challenged, supported, and confident in their ability to grow as a communicator and thinker.
What You'll Do
- Design and deliver comprehensive English language arts instruction aligned to state standards for grades 6–8
- Build students' proficiency in reading comprehension, literary analysis, composition, and grammar through interactive lessons and authentic texts
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction to meet individual learning needs
- Foster a classroom culture that values curiosity, intellectual rigor, and joyful learning
- Communicate progress and collaborate with families and colleagues to support student success
- Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Valid Mississippi teaching certification or eligibility for middle grades/ELA endorsement
- Strong content knowledge of English language arts and adolescent literacy development
- Demonstrated ability to engage diverse learners and differentiate instruction
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A commitment to educational equity and expanding opportunity for all students
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to school community
