Kaiser Permanente is hiring a Medical Technologist for call-in and on-call shifts in Honolulu, Wake Island. This is a full-time position performing essential laboratory diagnostics that directly support patient care and clinical decision-making.
About the Role
As a Medical Technologist on our call-in/on-call team, you'll conduct a wide range of laboratory tests and analyses that physicians rely on for accurate diagnosis and treatment. You'll work in Kaiser Permanente's laboratory setting, processing blood samples, cultures, and other specimens using advanced diagnostic techniques and instrumentation to generate critical patient data.
What You'll Do
- Perform chemical and biochemical analyses on patient specimens
- Conduct microscopic examinations for cell identification and morphology assessment
- Execute bacteriologic and microbiologic testing including culture preparation and organism identification
- Apply immunohematology and immunodiagnostic techniques for blood bank and serology work
- Prepare tissue samples for histopathologic examination
- Perform hematology testing including cell counts, coagulation studies, and blood cell morphology
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all test results and quality control measures
- Follow laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance standards
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and respond to quality assurance issues
- Respond to call-in and on-call requests to meet laboratory staffing needs
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or equivalent
- Current certification (MT or MLT) from a recognized credentialing body such as ASCP, AMT, or NCA
- Demonstrated expertise in chemical, microbiologic, hematologic, and immunologic laboratory procedures
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems and analytical instrumentation
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to test accuracy and patient safety
- Ability to work flexible call-in and on-call shifts as scheduled
- Professional communication skills and teamwork orientation
