Gpac is placing a full-time Mechanical Estimator with a well-established commercial mechanical contractor headquartered in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County, Georgia — a firm with twenty years of continuous operation delivering complex mechanical systems to commercial clients across the region.

About the Role

Sitting within the preconstruction division and reporting to estimating leadership, the Mechanical Estimator will drive the complete bid cycle for commercial mechanical construction projects. Work spans HVAC systems, refrigeration, chilled water plants, building automation controls, sheet metal fabrication, and full-lifecycle mechanical services. Compensation ranges from $80,000 to $120,000 depending on experience.

What You'll Do

• Lead quantity takeoffs and detailed cost estimates for commercial HVAC and mechanical systems from design documents through final bid submission
• Analyze architectural, mechanical, and specification packages to define accurate project scope and identify constructability risks
• Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate pricing from subcontractors, equipment vendors, and material suppliers
• Coordinate closely with project management and field superintendents to validate bid assumptions and labor productivity factors
• Maintain historical bid data and cost libraries to sharpen future estimate accuracy
• Support preconstruction planning across chilled water, refrigeration, controls, and sheet metal scopes throughout the project lifecycle

What We're Looking For

• Progressively responsible experience in mechanical construction estimating, with demonstrated commercial HVAC project history
• Hands-on familiarity with HVAC, refrigeration, chilled water, controls, and sheet metal systems as they apply to commercial construction
• Proven ability to read and interpret commercial mechanical drawings and project specifications
• Strong analytical mindset with disciplined attention to cost detail and bid accuracy
• Effective communicator capable of building productive relationships with general contractors, owners, and trade partners
• Proficiency with industry-standard estimating software and digital takeoff tools
