What You’ll Do:

 

The Manager, Nursing serves as a clinical and operational leader with both direct and indirect responsibilities for individual care delivery and nursing operations. In partnership with facility leadership, this role supports the development, implementation, and oversight of systems of care that promote continuity of care, positive individual outcomes, regulatory compliance, staff development, and a collaborative interdisciplinary team environment.

 

This position is responsible for supporting nursing operations, clinical quality initiatives, staffing coordination, regulatory readiness, and workforce development while ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, recovery-oriented care.  This role also presents an exciting opportunity to support the continued growth and development of Connections Health Solutions’ new Loudoun facility, helping establish a strong nursing culture, operational excellence, and high-quality recovery-oriented care within a fast-paced and innovative behavioral health environment.

Nursing Operations & Clinical Oversight

  • Directs the day-to-day operations and activities of nursing staff in accordance with federal, state, local, and organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports safe, effective, and efficient nursing operations through appropriate staffing coordination, workload management, and clinical oversight.
  • Serves as a clinical resource and subject matter expert for nursing best practices and collaborates effectively with interdisciplinary teams to support quality patient care and operational excellence.
  • May provide direct individual care and clinical support as needed to ensure continuity of operations and patient care delivery.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Assists with the recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, and progressive discipline of nursing and Behavioral Health Specialist staff.
  • Supports workforce engagement and professional development initiatives that promote accountability, teamwork, retention, and continuous learning.
  • Assists in maintaining appropriate staffing coverage, including oversight and coordination of agency nursing staff when applicable.

Quality, Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Supports compliance with Joint Commission (JCAHO), DBHDS, DMAS, CMS, and other applicable federal, state, and organizational standards and requirements.
  • Participates in corporate and facility-based Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI), infection prevention, and utilization management activities as assigned.
  • Functions as the Infection Control Nurse, when designated, and supports infection prevention initiatives, education, monitoring, and compliance activities.
  • Assesses departmental operations for compliance risks or concerns and escalates issues to appropriate leadership as necessary.
  • Provides education and guidance to staff regarding regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, evidence-based practices, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance training requirements are communicated, monitored, and supported in partnership with leadership and Human Resources.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs all other duties as assigned in support of facility operations, patient care, and organizational initiatives.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • 5 years of psychiatric, behavioral health, or relevant experience
  • 2 years of managerial experience
  • Must be able to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques
  • Unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) through the Virginia State Board of Nursing 
  • BLS certification is required
  • Knowledge of practice requirements of RN/LPN scope of practice as outlined in the State of Virginia Practice Act
  • Knowledge of psychiatric nursing and interventions and clinical knowledge base
  • The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy. All successful applicants must be fully vaccinated, including showing proper documentation, or otherwise be exempt pursuant to the Company’s exemption process prior to their start date as a condition of employment
  • State of Virginia Fingerprint Clearance
  • Must be able to pass Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services (VA DBHDS) background check
  • Must be able to p ass Virginia Department of Social Services (VA DSS) Office of Background Investigations – Central Registry Search
  • Physical Requirements
    • Safely perform physical interventions (e.g., standing, pivoting, reaching, kneeling, lowering to the floor, and supporting another person’s weight)
    • Lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally
    • Tolerate prolonged walking, standing, and observation in a fast-paced environment
    • Work with individuals who may exhibit agitation, aggression, or unpredictable behavior

It would be great if you had:

  • Previous emergency room or crisis psychiatric care experience
  • Familiarity with Court Ordered Treatment process and VA Involuntary treatment process
  • Master’s degree in Nursing 
  • QMHP credential
