About the Role

As a Management Intern you will work closely with store leaders to learn the fundamentals of retail management, assist with daily tasks, and develop skills that prepare you for a future supervisory position. The position is designed to provide practical exposure to scheduling, inventory control standards, customer service excellence, and team development within a fast‑paced retail environment.

What You'll Do

• Support floor management by monitoring sales areas and ensuring merchandise is stocked, priced, and presented according to visual standards.
• Assist supervisors with creating weekly schedules, tracking attendance, and providing on‑the‑spot coaching to associates.
• Help maintain inventory accuracy through receiving shipments, performing cycle counts, and processing returns or transfers.
• Deliver excellent customer service, resolve inquiries and complaints, and model professional behavior for team members.
• Participate in store‑wide initiatives such as setting up promotional displays, updating signage, and supporting loss‑prevention programs.
• Attend structured on‑the‑job training sessions that cover store policies, safety procedures, basic financial controls, and leadership fundamentals.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cash handling, securing the store, and preparing daily reports.
• Contribute to a positive store culture by encouraging teamwork, recognizing peer achievements, and upholding Menard’s service standards.

What We're Looking For

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a high school diploma or equivalent; coursework in business, management, or a related field is advantageous.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly with customers, teammates, and supervisors.
• Basic math aptitude for handling transactions, calculating discounts, and performing inventory counts.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to work a flexible part‑time schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, walk the sales floor regularly, and lift moderate weights (up to 25 pounds) as needed.
• Basic computer literacy for using point‑of‑sale systems, scheduling software, and simple reporting tools.
• A proactive attitude, eagerness to learn, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming store environment.
