Local Contract Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Assured Nursing is hiring a full-time Local Contract Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join a dedicated obstetric care team in Davis, California, serving the Yolo County community.

About the Role

This is a 16-week local contract L&D RN opportunity based in Davis, CA, with 12-hour day shifts totaling 36 hours per week. The assignment begins July 20, 2026, and is ideal for an experienced Labor and Delivery nurse seeking meaningful contract work close to home in the greater Sacramento region.

What You'll Do

• Provide continuous antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum nursing care to laboring patients and their families
• Perform and interpret electronic fetal monitoring, escalating findings to the obstetric team as clinically indicated
• Administer medications — including oxytocin, tocolytics, and IV antibiotics — per protocol and physician orders
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and support the surgical team during cesarean sections
• Conduct initial newborn assessments and support skin-to-skin and breastfeeding initiation
• Triage obstetric patients presenting to the unit with urgent or emergent concerns
• Educate patients and support persons on birth options, labor progression, pain management, and postpartum recovery
• Document care accurately and in real time within the electronic health record
• Collaborate with physicians, certified nurse midwives, anesthesia, and the broader perinatal team to ensure safe, patient-centered outcomes

What We're Looking For

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in California
• Demonstrated clinical experience in Labor and Delivery nursing
• Current BLS certification; ACLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required or expected
• Proficiency with electronic fetal monitoring; AWHONN fetal monitoring certification is a plus
• Ability to function independently and adapt quickly in a fast-paced obstetric environment
• Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working within interdisciplinary care teams
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems used in acute care hospital settings
