Join Seattle Aquarium's Facilities & Operations team as a Life Support Systems Technician in Times Square, King County. This full-time position plays a critical role in maintaining the advanced water systems and life support infrastructure that keep our marine exhibits thriving.
About the Role
As our Life Support Systems Technician, you'll work Tuesday through Saturday, 6:30am to 3pm, with occasional evening and weekend availability for special events and facility projects. This is a full-time, hourly position with benefits. You'll report directly to the Life Support System Supervisor and be responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the aquarium's complex mechanical and chemical systems that sustain our marine environment.
What You'll Do
- Monitor and maintain water quality parameters including temperature, pH, salinity, and dissolved oxygen levels across multiple exhibit systems
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on filtration equipment, pumps, chillers, and related life support infrastructure
- Respond promptly to system alerts and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to minimize operational downtime
- Document maintenance activities, system performance data, and equipment logs according to facility protocols
- Collaborate with the Facilities & Operations team to support special events, exhibits, and facility improvement projects
- Maintain a safe, clean work environment and follow all safety and health protocols
What We're Looking For
- Technical aptitude and mechanical knowledge with demonstrated ability to learn complex systems
- Attention to detail and commitment to precision in monitoring critical equipment
- Reliability and willingness to work the Tuesday–Saturday schedule, including occasional after-hours support
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer skills for data entry and system monitoring software
- Physical capability to lift equipment, climb ladders, and work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions
