West Villa Animal Hospital is hiring a Licensed Veterinary Technician for our Kearney, Buffalo County clinic. This full-time position offers veterinary technicians the opportunity to deliver hands-on patient care and support our clinical team in a dynamic animal hospital setting.
About the Role
As a Licensed Veterinary Technician at West Villa Animal Hospital, you'll play a vital role in animal health and wellness. You'll work directly with veterinarians to ensure our patients receive the highest standard of medical and surgical care, from initial assessment through recovery and follow-up. This role combines technical skill, clinical judgment, and compassionate patient handling in a fast-paced veterinary environment.
What You'll Do
- Restrain and handle animals safely while minimizing stress and injury
- Perform triage assessments on incoming patients and communicate findings to the veterinary team
- Collect, prepare, and analyze laboratory samples; assist with diagnostic imaging and radiography
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian
- Provide nursing care for hospitalized animals, including monitoring vital signs and adjusting care based on patient status
- Prepare surgical sites, maintain sterile fields, and assist during surgical procedures
- Support anesthesia protocols and recovery monitoring
- Educate clients on treatment options, post-operative care, and preventive health measures
What We're Looking For
- Current veterinary technician license in Nebraska (or ability to obtain licensure)
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medical principles, surgical techniques, and anesthesia protocols
- Proficiency with laboratory equipment and diagnostic tools
- Excellent communication skills with both the veterinary team and pet owners
- Physical ability to handle animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Compassion for animals combined with professional attention to detail
- Reliability and a positive attitude in a team environment
