Franklin Special District is seeking a dedicated Library Paraprofessional to join the support team at Freedom Intermediate in the United States.
About the Role
This full‑time, ten‑month classified position works under the direct supervision of the school principal to assist with library‑based instructional activities and student support.
What You'll Do
- Assist teachers and librarians in delivering instructional programs within the library setting
- Help students locate, select, and use print and digital resources for research and reading
- Prepare and organize library materials, including shelving, cataloging, and maintaining collections
- Support technology use by guiding students with computers, tablets, and educational software
- Monitor student behavior to ensure a safe, welcoming, and productive library environment
- Participate in library‑related events, book fairs, and literacy initiatives as needed
- Perform clerical tasks such as checking materials in and out, processing new acquisitions, and updating records
- Collaborate with classroom staff to reinforce curriculum objectives through library‑based activities
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent; post‑secondary coursework in education, library science, or a related field is preferred
- Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or library setting
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents
- Basic proficiency with library management systems and common educational technology tools
- Organizational aptitude with attention to detail for shelving, inventory, and record‑keeping tasks
- Reliability, punctuality, and a commitment to supporting student learning outcomes
- Ability to follow directions from certified staff while exercising initiative in routine library operations
