ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Associate Learning Experience Designer (LEDI) supports the design, development, and implementation of learning experiences across assigned programme portfolios within CALI.
Reporting to the Lead Learning Experience Designer, this role partners closely with faculty and programme teams to develop high-quality, skills-driven, and student-centred learning experiences aligned to the ALU Learning Model and CALI standards.
The role plays a key implementation function within the learning design system, supporting programme delivery, faculty enablement, and continuous improvement across campus portfolios.

- Supports multiple programmes and stakeholders across different modalities and learning environments
- Combines learning design, implementation support, and faculty enablement within one role
- Contributes directly to experiential, mission-driven, and skills-based learning experiences
- Supports both accredited academic programmes and innovative learning initiatives
Core Responsibilities:
1. Learning Experience Design
- Support design and development of learning experiences across assigned programme portfolios
- Develop:
○ Learning activities
○ Assessments and rubrics
○ Session materials
○ Learning resources and student journeys
- Ensure alignment between:
○ Learning outcomes
○ Assessments
○ Skills development
○ Student experience
2. Program Development Support
- Support programme reviews, updates, and new programme development initiatives
- Assist in translating programme requirements into structured learning experiences
- Ensure programme materials align to:
○ CALI standards
○ Accreditation requirements
○ Institutional quality expectations
3. Learning Experience Design
- Act as the “connective tissue” between Product, Architecture, Innovation, and Measurement teams.
- Drive alignment of outputs into a cohesive, integrated system.
- Partner with Academic Directors, Deans, and Faculty to ensure institutional coherence.
4. Faculty Enablement & Implementation Support
- Support faculty in implementing learning experiences effectively
- Provide guidance on:
○ Learning activities
○ Assessment practices
○ Learning technologies and systems
- Assist with adaptation across online, blended, and in-person delivery models
- Support troubleshooting and implementation coordination during delivery
5. Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in programme quality reviews and observation processes
- Use learner and faculty feedback to improve learning experiences
- Support implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain consistency of programme materials and design quality
Qualifications:
Essential
- Education: Degree (Education, Psychology, Learning Design) or 3-5 years experience
- Expertise: Proven track record in systems thinking, process design, and operational leadership.
- Skills: Experience designing scalable frameworks and leading cross-functional teams in complex environments.
Preferred
- Terminal degree in learning systems, educational standards, curriculum development, or related field.
- Experience in Higher Education (Africa context highly valued).
- Familiarity with blended/online learning and accreditation/QA regulations.
- Background in innovative or non-traditional education models.
