Good Shepherd Services is seeking a dedicated Internship and Career Coordinator to join our team in Brooklyn, New York and make a meaningful impact on young adults' career paths. This full-time position offers the opportunity to support participants in the Rebound Elevate program—an innovative job readiness initiative that combines career development with basketball engagement to inspire and prepare individuals for workforce success.
About the Role
As the Internship and Career Coordinator, you'll be at the heart of program operations and participant success. Working closely with the Sr. Program Director and Sr. Program Manager for our Barclays-funded initiatives, you'll coordinate internship placements, facilitate career coaching, and support participants through every stage of their professional development journey.
What You'll Do
- Develop and manage internship placements with local employers, matching participant skills to real-world opportunities
- Provide career coaching and mentorship, helping young adults clarify goals and build professional confidence
- Track participant progress, document outcomes, and maintain program records for reporting and evaluation
- Coordinate workshops and skill-building sessions in resume writing, interview preparation, and workplace professionalism
- Liaise between participants, employers, program staff, and community partners to ensure smooth program execution
- Support the integration of basketball engagement activities with career readiness milestones
- Contribute to program evaluation efforts and continuous improvement initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple participants and placements simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities—both written and verbal
- Passion for career development and genuine commitment to supporting young adults from underserved communities
- Experience with program coordination, career services, or youth development (preferred)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data management systems
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and report to multiple supervisors
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in career services, education, or related field
