CDM Smith is hiring an International PFAS Forensics Subject Matter Expert to join our environmental science and engineering team in Asheville, Buncombe County. This full-time, on-site role offers a chance to apply specialized forensic expertise to some of the most complex per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) challenges worldwide.
About the Role
As an International PFAS Forensics Subject Matter Expert based in Asheville, you will serve as a technical authority on PFAS source identification, fate, and transport. Working from our Buncombe County office, you will guide investigations, advise project teams, and help shape strategy on assignments that carry real environmental and regulatory significance across global markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide subject matter leadership on international PFAS forensic investigations and source attribution studies.
- Interpret analytical and environmental data to support contamination characterization and remediation planning.
- Advise multidisciplinary project teams on technical approach, methodology, and quality standards.
- Communicate findings clearly to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
- Stay current with evolving PFAS science, analytical techniques, and regulatory frameworks worldwide.
Qualifications
- Recognized expertise in PFAS chemistry, environmental forensics, and contaminant fate and transport.
- Demonstrated experience supporting investigations on a national or international scale.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
- Ability to work on site in Asheville, Buncombe County, in a full-time capacity.
