About the Role

The instructor will guide apprentices through a structured curriculum that blends classroom theory with practical shop work, ensuring each learner develops the competencies needed for successful HVAC careers.

What You'll Do

  • Design and deliver engaging training sessions that cover HVAC fundamentals, system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Oversee hands‑on lab activities, monitor apprentice progress, and provide timely feedback to reinforce skill acquisition.
  • Develop lesson plans, assessment tools, and instructional materials aligned with industry standards and program objectives.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment by enforcing shop safety protocols and modeling proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate with program coordinators and local industry partners to keep course content current with emerging technologies.
  • Track attendance, performance metrics, and competency checkpoints, reporting outcomes to college administration.
  • Mentor apprentices on professional conduct, communication, and workplace readiness beyond technical skills.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in the HVAC field, preferably with a journeyman or master technician background.
  • Strong grasp of residential and commercial HVAC systems, including refrigeration, airflow, and electrical controls.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to explain complex concepts clearly to diverse learners.
  • A genuine passion for teaching, mentoring, and helping adult learners achieve career goals.
  • Ability to adapt instructional methods to accommodate varying skill levels and learning styles.
  • Commitment to upholding safety standards and fostering a respectful, inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Preferred: prior experience in vocational instruction, apprenticeship coordination, or adult education.
