About the Role
The Instructional Specialist for Reading and Language Arts works directly with classroom teachers and instructional teams to strengthen K-6 literacy instruction. You'll partner with educators to implement evidence-based practices, design units of study, and troubleshoot challenges in real time. Your work touches classrooms across the district, making you a central resource for elementary teachers seeking to expand their instructional toolkit.
What You'll Do
- Coach and mentor K-6 teachers in reading instruction methods, assessment, and differentiation
- Design curriculum resources aligned to Texas standards and district priorities
- Conduct professional learning sessions on literacy practices, instructional design, and assessment use
- Conduct classroom observations and provide evidence-based feedback to support continuous improvement
- Collaborate with grade-level teams to analyze student data and adjust instruction
- Support the adoption and implementation of new reading programs and instructional resources
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred)
- Valid Texas Teacher Certification in Reading Language Arts, Elementary Education, or closely related field
- Demonstrated knowledge of K-6 curriculum design, reading science, and instructional strategies
- Strong communication skills with teachers, administrators, and school communities
- Experience in a classroom or instructional support role preferred
- Ability to build collaborative relationships and lead professional learning
