Information System Security Officer, Classified Cybersecurity

Lockheed Martin is seeking a full-time Information System Security Officer (ISSO) in Sunnyvale, Santa Clara County, to safeguard classified systems and technologies that support national security missions. You will manage security policies and technical controls protecting some of the most sensitive information systems in the defense industry.

About the Role

An Information System Security Officer in our classified cybersecurity environment bears responsibility for implementing and maintaining comprehensive security controls across systems handling sensitive government information. You will operate at the intersection of compliance policy and technical security engineering, ensuring our defense and aerospace technologies remain protected against sophisticated, evolving threats.

What You'll Do

• Develop, implement, and enforce security policies and procedures for classified information systems
• Conduct security risk assessments and vulnerability evaluations across assigned systems
• Manage user access controls, authentication mechanisms, and identity management protocols
• Monitor systems for unauthorized access attempts, anomalies, and potential security breaches
• Lead security incident response activities and coordinate remediation efforts
• Support the accreditation and compliance process for classified information systems
• Provide security awareness training and guidance to system users and technical staff
• Document security configurations, controls, and audit trails in accordance with federal requirements

What We're Looking For

• Current Final Secret security clearance with eligibility to obtain Top Secret clearance
• Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• Hands-on experience managing security controls in classified government environments
• Strong understanding of NIST cybersecurity frameworks, DoD security standards, and federal compliance requirements
• Demonstrated expertise in access control systems, encryption, and intrusion detection
• Excellent communication skills to translate technical security concepts for non-technical stakeholders
• Commitment to continuous learning in the rapidly evolving cybersecurity landscape
