What This Role Involves
As an Informatics Engineer at Prime Medicine, you'll contribute to our mission to develop next-generation gene editing therapies. The Informatics Engineer role sits at the intersection of biology and technology, supporting the development and implementation of our proprietary Prime Editing platform. In this position, you'll work on computational challenges that directly enable the discovery and optimization of genetic therapies designed to treat patients with previously intractable genetic diseases.
Core Duties
- Design and maintain data pipelines and analysis workflows that support gene editing research and development
- Collaborate with bench scientists and computational teams to translate biological requirements into scalable informatics solutions
- Develop and optimize algorithms for processing, analyzing, and interpreting genomic and sequencing data
- Contribute to database architecture, data management systems, and laboratory information management platforms
- Participate in code review, testing, and documentation practices that ensure data integrity and reproducibility
- Support the translation of research findings into clinical and therapeutic applications
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Python, R, C++, Java, or similar)
- Experience with genomic data analysis, sequencing analysis, or bioinformatics workflows
- Familiarity with version control systems, software development practices, and command-line tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across scientific and engineering disciplines
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail in scientific and technical documentation
- Passion for advancing gene therapy and genetic medicine
