HPC Systems Engineer with Security Clearance

Parsons is hiring a full-time HPC Systems Engineer with Security Clearance to join our team in Monticello, Charlottesville City. We're looking for an experienced systems engineer to design, deploy, and optimize high-performance computing infrastructure that powers critical operations and innovation.

About the Role

As an HPC Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for the management and optimization of high-performance computing systems in a demanding, security-conscious environment. This role requires someone who understands both the technical depth of HPC architectures and the operational discipline required when working with classified or sensitive infrastructure. You'll work at the intersection of systems administration, performance engineering, and infrastructure security.

What You'll Do

• Design, implement, and maintain large-scale HPC clusters and computing infrastructure
• Optimize system performance, resource allocation, and job scheduling across compute nodes
• Troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues in high-performance computing environments
• Manage system monitoring, capacity planning, and infrastructure upgrades
• Ensure security compliance and implement protective measures for systems handling sensitive workloads
• Collaborate with application teams and researchers to support their computational requirements
• Document system configurations, runbooks, and operational procedures

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of systems administration experience in Linux/Unix environments
• Demonstrated expertise with HPC systems, cluster management, and performance tuning
• Strong understanding of HPC schedulers, parallel file systems, and compute architectures
• Current or ability to obtain a security clearance (required for this position)
• Solid troubleshooting skills and experience with monitoring and observability tools
• Excellent communication and ability to work effectively in team settings
