This is a full-time, leadership-focused position based at our Cold Springs Maintenance Yard, where you'll maintain and protect Nevada's highway system while leading a team dedicated to safe, well-maintained roadways.
About the Role
Highway Maintenance Worker 4 is a lead position with the State of Nevada Department of Transportation. You'll be responsible for hands-on highway maintenance operations in the Carson City area and surrounding regions, while providing direction and oversight to maintenance crews. Your work directly impacts the safety and reliability of Nevada's transportation infrastructure.
What You'll Do
- Perform and oversee routine highway maintenance including pavement repair, sign maintenance, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy equipment and vehicles safely and effectively
- Lead and train maintenance crews on proper procedures and safety protocols
- Respond to weather events and emergency repairs to keep highways passable
- Conduct inspections and identify maintenance needs across assigned routes
- Maintain detailed records and reports on maintenance activities and equipment
- Ensure compliance with state and federal safety regulations
