Genoa-Hugo School District is seeking a Head High School Cheer Coach for a full-time position. Lead and develop the district's high school cheer program in this coaching role that reports directly to the Athletic Director.
About the Role
As Head High School Cheer Coach, you will oversee all aspects of the varsity cheer program, from competitive preparation to team management and student-athlete development. This position combines technical instruction, program leadership, and community representation as you build a strong athletic program within the district.
What You'll Do
- Direct high school cheer athletes in practice, training, and competition preparation
- Design and implement skill progressions, conditioning plans, and routine development
- Teach cheer techniques, safety protocols, and competition rules and standards
- Manage practice schedules, team logistics, and competitive events
- Develop athlete leadership and foster a positive team culture
- Coordinate with school administration and other athletic departments
- Maintain compliance with athletic association policies and district guidelines
What We're Looking For
- Minimum two years of experience coaching cheer or as a competitive cheer participant
- Demonstrated knowledge of cheer fundamentals, skills, competitive rules, and training methods
- Proven success instructing and mentoring student-athletes
- Strong commitment to athlete safety and wellness
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities
- Professional presence and dedication to representing the district with integrity
