University of Tennessee seeks a full-time Grants and Contracts Coordinator in Memphis, Shelby County to manage administrative and financial operations for the Basic Sciences Administration. Reporting to the Operations Manager and Grants Administrator, you'll support sponsored research and grant management while collaborating with faculty, the Office of Sponsored Programs, and Grants Accounting teams.
About the Role
This position serves as a critical liaison in the grants and contracts administration function, ensuring smooth coordination between faculty investigators, institutional offices, and external sponsors. Working within the Basic Sciences Administration, you'll manage the full lifecycle of grants and contracts while maintaining compliance with university and funder requirements. The hourly rate for this position is $21.69.
What You'll Do
- Process, organize, and track grant applications, proposals, and contract amendments
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all sponsored programs and agreements
- Coordinate with Faculty Principal Investigators on proposal development, grant requirements, and deliverables
- Support budget tracking, financial oversight, and compliance monitoring for active grants
- Facilitate communication between the Office of Sponsored Programs, Grants Accounting, and department faculty
- Ensure adherence to institutional policies, sponsor requirements, and regulatory guidelines
- Assist with grant closeout procedures, final reporting, and archival processes

- Strong organizational and administrative capabilities with proven attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholder priorities simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database management systems
- Experience or familiarity with grant management processes and higher education administration (preferred)
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments
