CGI is hiring a General Mechanical Technician with Security Clearance to join our Huntsville, Madison County team supporting the Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) program for the United States Army. This full-time position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to critical defense systems through hands-on mechanical expertise and precision workmanship.
About the Role
As a General Mechanical Technician, you'll play an essential part in the lifecycle of complex mechanical systems that power advanced military command and control capabilities. Working on-site in Huntsville, you'll engage in the full spectrum of mechanical operations—from initial assembly and integration through rigorous testing, ongoing maintenance, and precise repair work. Your attention to detail and technical skill will ensure that mechanical assemblies, structures, and system modifications meet exacting defense standards and operational requirements.
What You'll Do
- Perform mechanical installation and assembly of complex systems and subsystems according to engineering specifications and technical drawings
- Conduct integration activities to ensure mechanical components work seamlessly with larger system architectures
- Execute comprehensive testing protocols to verify mechanical functionality, safety, and performance standards
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and assemblies to maintain operational readiness
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and execute repairs with precision and adherence to quality standards
- Document work activities, maintain accurate records, and communicate status updates to supervisors and team members
- Support modifications and upgrades to existing mechanical structures and assemblies as needed
What We're Looking For
- Current or ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance (Secret level or higher)
- Proven experience as a mechanical technician or in a related hands-on mechanical role
- Strong proficiency with mechanical tools, precision measurement instruments, and shop equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering specifications
- Solid understanding of mechanical principles, assembly procedures, and quality standards
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in precision work
- Ability to work effectively in team environments and communicate clearly with colleagues
- Willingness to comply with defense security protocols and workplace procedures
