Homestead Rehab & Health Care Center in Fredon, Sussex County is seeking a Full-time Cook to join our dietary team at our 128-bed healthcare facility. We're looking for someone who takes pride in preparing nutritious, appetizing meals for our residents in a structured, fast-paced kitchen environment.
About the Role
You'll work the 11am to 7pm shift as a key member of our food service team. This full-time position requires flexibility to work at least every other weekend and holidays throughout the year. In this role, you'll support our mission of providing excellent nutrition and dining experiences that contribute to resident health and happiness.
What You'll Do
- Prepare meals according to resident dietary requirements, medical restrictions, and therapeutic diet specifications
- Follow recipes, portion sizes, and food safety protocols consistently
- Maintain sanitation standards and keep the kitchen clean, organized, and efficient
- Collaborate with the dietary team to coordinate meal preparation and timely service
- Handle food inventory responsibly and adapt cooking methods to meet individual resident needs
- Ensure all prepared meals meet our quality and nutritional standards
What We're Looking For
- Cooking experience in a kitchen or food service setting
- Availability to work the 11am–7pm schedule with flexibility for weekends and holidays
- Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling
- Servsafe Certification (preferred but not required)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to resident satisfaction
- Physical capability to lift regularly and perform kitchen duties
