About the Role

As a Firearms Associate at Rural King in Muscle Shoals, you will be the go-to resource for customers navigating one of the store's most regulated and trusted departments. This part-time position demands equal parts product expertise, regulatory diligence, and genuine customer care.

What You'll Do

• Guide customers through firearm selections suited to their intended use, whether hunting, sport shooting, or home protection
• Process firearm transactions in full compliance with federal and Alabama state laws, including completion of ATF Form 4473 and NICS background check procedures
• Keep the firearms counter, display cases, and inventory organized, clean, and properly secured at all times
• Assist with receiving, tagging, and merchandising firearms and related products such as ammunition and accessories
• Stay current on applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing firearm sales
• Deliver a consistently positive experience that reflects Rural King's commitment to the communities it serves
• Support fellow associates and store leadership with department tasks as needed

What We're Looking For

• Solid working knowledge of firearms — types, calibers, safe handling, and common uses
• Ability to meet all legal requirements to sell firearms, including passing a background check and being at least 18 years of age
• Comfort working with regulated products and following strict compliance procedures without shortcuts
• Strong communication skills and a customer-first attitude
• Reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work a part-time schedule that may include evenings and weekends
• Prior retail or firearms sales experience is a plus but not required
