Fire Sprinkler Designer

Gpac is recruiting a full-time Fire Sprinkler Designer on behalf of a well-established fire protection and life safety contractor serving the Hialeah, Miami-Dade County area — a growing firm with a strong regional reputation and a genuine commitment to employee development.

About the Role

This is an on-site opportunity for an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer who is ready to take ownership of system layouts and contribute to a high-performing design team. You'll work alongside project managers and field crews to deliver code-compliant fire suppression systems across a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, and industrial projects throughout South Florida.

What You'll Do

• Produce detailed sprinkler system layouts and shop drawings using industry-standard CAD software
• Perform hydraulic calculations to verify system performance against applicable codes and project specifications
• Interpret architectural and structural blueprints to coordinate sprinkler placement with other building systems
• Ensure all designs comply with NFPA 13, NFPA 13R, NFPA 13D, and local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements
• Prepare submittal packages and as-built documentation for project closeout
• Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and installation crews to resolve design conflicts early
• Support permit application processes and respond to plan review comments

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in fire sprinkler system design
• NICET Level II certification or higher in Water-Based Systems Layout (required)
• Proficiency with fire protection CAD design software (SprinkCAD, AutoSPRINK, HydraCAD, or similar)
• Solid working knowledge of NFPA standards and local building codes applicable to Miami-Dade County
• Ability to read and interpret full construction document sets including architectural, structural, and MEP drawings
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously
• Clear, professional communication skills for coordination with clients, engineers, and inspectors
