About the Role
As a Fire Alarm Programming Technician you will ensure that fire detection and alarm systems are correctly programmed, tested, and ready to perform when needed. You will work independently and as part of a team to deliver reliable solutions that meet industry standards and client expectations.
What You'll Do
- Program, configure, and verify fire alarm control panels, initiating devices, and notification appliances according to NFPA 72, UL, and local authority requirements
- Perform system acceptance testing, functional tests, and troubleshooting to identify and correct faults
- Conduct periodic inspection, testing, and maintenance of existing fire alarm systems, documenting results in compliance with service protocols
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to interpret drawings, specifications, and change orders
- Maintain accurate records of programming changes, test results, and service activities in company databases
- Stay current with emerging fire alarm technologies, code updates, and manufacturer training programs
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of two years hands‑on experience with fire alarm system programming, testing, or troubleshooting
- Strong understanding of NFPA 72, IEC, and local fire code principles
- Proficiency with common fire alarm panels (e.g., Siemens, Notifier, Honeywell, Edwards) and related configuration software
- Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system layouts
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail when diagnosing system issues
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites throughout the Duluth area
- Commitment to safety, quality, and professional conduct on every project
