Family Advocate

Grand St Settlement is seeking a compassionate, community-minded Family Advocate to join our Early Childhood team in the Lower East Side, Manhattan. In this full-time role, you will connect families with the resources, support, and partnerships that help children and parents thrive.

About the Role

As a Family Advocate at Grand St Settlement, you will lead the day-to-day work of our Parent, Family, and Community Engagement efforts within the Early Childhood department. Reporting to the Family & Community Partnership Coordinator, you will serve as a trusted bridge between families and program staff, ensuring caregivers feel informed, welcomed, and empowered. This is an on-site position with a standard weekday schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility based on program needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out the Parent, Family, and Community Engagement framework across the Early Childhood program.
• Build supportive, ongoing relationships with enrolled families and their children.
• Link parents and caregivers to community resources, services, and partnership opportunities.
• Encourage active family participation in program activities and decision-making.
• Coordinate closely with the Family & Community Partnership Coordinator and program staff.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to family engagement.

Qualifications

• Genuine commitment to supporting families and young children in an Early Childhood setting.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across community partners.
• Organized, dependable, and comfortable managing documentation and follow-up.
• Availability for an on-site, full-time weekday schedule in Lower East Side, Manhattan.
