About the Role
As an Environmental Protection Specialist, you'll serve as a key steward of the Defense Logistics Agency's environmental compliance programs. Based in Jefferson City, Cole County, you'll manage compliance monitoring, oversee audit activities, and drive corrective initiatives that strengthen DLA's environmental performance. This role bridges agency operations with environmental standards, ensuring federal logistics operations meet all applicable regulations and organizational commitments.
What You'll Do
- Monitor environmental compliance status across Defense Logistics Agency operations and its supporting service components
- Analyze audit findings from internal reviews and external environmental assessments to identify compliance gaps
- Design and implement corrective action strategies to resolve environmental compliance deficiencies
- Establish standard operating procedures that codify environmental protocols and best practices
- Develop environmental contracts that align with DLA mission requirements and regulatory obligations
- Operate the DLA Enterprise Business System (EBS) to prepare Military Interdepartmental Purchase Requests (MIPRs) that secure funding for environmental initiatives
