About the Role

As an Environmental Protection Specialist with the Defense Logistics Agency in Newark, Essex County, you will monitor and strengthen environmental compliance throughout DLA operations. This full-time position blends hands-on auditing, corrective planning, and procurement coordination, with telework eligibility available. You will serve as a key point of accountability for ensuring agency activities meet established environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor environmental compliance using findings from both internal DLA reviews and service-component audits.
• Build corrective action plans whenever compliance gaps surface, including drafting standard operating procedures.
• Develop and manage contracts that support environmental compliance objectives.
• Operate the DLA Enterprise Business System (EBS) to create Military Interdepartmental Purchase Requests (MIPRs) that fund environmental initiatives.
• Document tracking results and recommend process improvements to sustain ongoing regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of environmental compliance standards, audits, and corrective action processes.
• Experience preparing standard operating procedures and supporting contract or procurement actions.
• Familiarity with enterprise business or procurement systems such as EBS, and funding mechanisms like MIPRs, is an asset.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills to track findings and follow issues through to resolution.
• Ability to work full-time on-site in Newark, Essex County, with telework eligibility.
