About the Role
As an Environmental Manager with the State of Indiana, you'll lead environmental compliance, sustainability, and protection initiatives that directly benefit Hoosier communities. What You'll Do
- Develop and implement environmental policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with state and federal regulations
- Oversee environmental compliance programs and audit requirements across assigned areas
- Manage environmental assessments and investigations to identify risks and improvement opportunities
- Lead and mentor team members in environmental protection and regulatory practices
- Coordinate with stakeholders—including state agencies, communities, and environmental organizations—to advance shared environmental goals
- Monitor and respond to environmental issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on environmental performance and initiatives
- Manage budgets and resources to support environmental programs and operations
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Biology, Engineering, or related field
- Three or more years of professional experience in environmental management, compliance, or a related role
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze environmental data, identify trends, and recommend effective solutions
