Environmental Manager

About the Role

As an Environmental Manager with the State of Indiana, you'll lead environmental compliance, sustainability, and protection initiatives that directly benefit Hoosier communities. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and collaborative problem-solving to ensure environmental standards are met and environmental resources are preserved for future generations.

What You'll Do

• Develop and implement environmental policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with state and federal regulations
• Oversee environmental compliance programs and audit requirements across assigned areas
• Manage environmental assessments and investigations to identify risks and improvement opportunities
• Lead and mentor team members in environmental protection and regulatory practices
• Coordinate with stakeholders—including state agencies, communities, and environmental organizations—to advance shared environmental goals
• Monitor and respond to environmental issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution
• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on environmental performance and initiatives
• Manage budgets and resources to support environmental programs and operations

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Biology, Engineering, or related field
• Three or more years of professional experience in environmental management, compliance, or a related role
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements
• Proven leadership and team management capabilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to analyze environmental data, identify trends, and recommend effective solutions
• Demonstrated commitment to environmental protection and public service
