Engineer 3

Amentum is hiring an Engineer 3 for full-time work at Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Brevard County, Florida, supporting the Kennedy Propellants and Life Support Services program. Join our engineering team delivering advanced solutions for mission-critical aerospace systems.

Role Overview

In this Engineer 3 role, you'll engage across the full engineering lifecycle—from research and conceptual planning through operational support. Your work will encompass research initiatives, system design, manufacturing coordination, comprehensive testing, field installation, and ongoing maintenance of sophisticated electronic and mechanical systems. You'll serve as a contributing member of integrated design, analysis, and engineering review teams, applying technical judgment to solve complex challenges supporting Kennedy Space Center operations.

Your Responsibilities

• Support research efforts and technology development for propellants and life support systems
• Develop, document, and validate engineering designs for electronic and mechanical equipment and systems
• Oversee manufacturing and fabrication activities, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards
• Design and execute system tests to validate performance, reliability, and safety
• Manage or coordinate installation and commissioning of systems in operational environments
• Provide technical support for operational systems, troubleshoot problems, and develop solutions
• Participate in design reviews, systems analysis, and engineering assessments
• Create technical documentation and maintain traceability to requirements and standards

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering science, or closely related technical discipline
• Professional engineering background with demonstrated expertise in system design or operations
• Experience with electronic and/or mechanical systems in complex environments
• Knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with cross-functional teamwork skills
• Ability to meet security clearance eligibility requirements
