Parkrose SD 3 is hiring dedicated Educational Assistants to support students in specialized Structured Skills classrooms across Portland, Multnomah County. About the Role
As an Educational Assistant – Special Education – Structured Skills, you will work alongside certified teachers in specialized classroom settings to deliver individualized support to students with disabilities. This on-site, full-time position is based at two Parkrose SD 3 elementary campuses in Portland and follows a 177-day work calendar at 35 hours per week. There are multiple openings: two at Russell Elementary School and two at Shaver Elementary School.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in implementing structured skills instruction and individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students with special education needs.
- Help students develop functional, academic, social, and behavioral skills in a structured environment.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom atmosphere.
- Reinforce learning routines and support students in building daily independence.
Qualifications
- Genuine interest in working with students who have special education needs.
- Patience, dependability, and strong communication skills.
- Ability to follow guidance from teaching staff and support structured learning plans.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful classroom community.
Compensation
This position (Job Classification L) pays $20.84 to $27.42 per hour depending on experience, and includes employer-paid retirement along with a generous benefits package.
