About the Role
As a Lab Assistant I or II in Lab Services - Digital Pathology at UTMB Health, you will help keep the clinical laboratory running smoothly by handling specimen processing, organizational, and support duties tied to digital pathology workflows. This is a casual position scheduled for up to 19.99 hours per week, based on-site in West Galveston, Texas. It is an open-pooled posting, meaning your education and experience will be reviewed and the offer may be extended at either the Lab Assistant I or Lab Assistant II level as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist laboratory staff with the daily activities of the Clinical Laboratory's digital pathology section
- Receive, log, label, and prepare specimens for processing and analysis
- Maintain accurate records and ensure proper handling of laboratory samples
- Support technical personnel with routine and clerical laboratory tasks
- Follow established safety, quality, and compliance standards within the lab environment
Qualifications
- Education and experience aligned with the Lab Assistant I or II classification, evaluated on an individual basis
- Attention to detail and accuracy when handling specimens and documentation
