Join Sertoma Center as a Direct Support Professional in our Day Program (ECF) in Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee. We're recruiting full-time DSPs who are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through direct, compassionate support.
About the Role
As a Direct Support Professional with our Day Program, you'll work directly with individuals to promote their health, safety, dignity, and overall quality of life. This is hands-on support work where you'll help people navigate daily activities, build skills, pursue their goals, and engage meaningfully within the community.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct personal care and assistance with activities of daily living
- Support individuals in building independence and achieving personal goals
- Facilitate safe, enriching community outings and recreational activities
- Maintain accurate documentation and communication with the care team
- Advocate for the needs, preferences, and rights of the individuals you support
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment
- Respond compassionately to behavioral or medical needs
What We're Looking For
- Genuine care and compassion for individuals with disabilities
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary care team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt to individual preferences and needs
- Physical ability to provide hands-on support (standing, walking, assisting with mobility)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (may be required for some community activities)
