Alay Home Care is seeking a full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP/Caregiver) in Princeton, Mercer County. As a DSP, you will provide personalized care to individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them develop independent living skills and participate fully in their communities.
About the Role
In this full-time position, you'll be the day-to-day support for clients working toward greater independence. You'll assist with personal care, teach life skills, facilitate community involvement, and help create an environment where each person can thrive. The position offers flexible scheduling with day shift, evening shift, and weekend availability options, paying $21.40–$30.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
What You'll Do
- Provide hands-on assistance with daily living activities (grooming, bathing, meal prep, medication reminders)
- Teach and reinforce independent living skills in practical, real-world settings
- Accompany clients on community outings, appointments, and social activities
- Communicate client progress and any concerns to supervisors and team members
- Maintain safe, clean living spaces and respect client privacy
- Model positive behaviors and provide encouragement and support
- Complete required documentation accurately and timely
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Genuine commitment to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
- Ability to work day shifts, evening shifts, and weekends as scheduled
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (preferred for certain assignments)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Physical capability to assist with personal care needs and mobility
- Patience, empathy, and respect for dignity and personal choice
- Willingness to complete background check and health screening
