Astera Search, a dynamic biopharmaceutical organization, is recruiting a Director or Senior Director of Statistical Programming to lead the creation of a robust statistical programming function supporting our oncology pipeline. This is a remote, full-time position based in the United States.
About the Role
You will serve as the senior technical leader and architect of a newly established statistical programming team. This unique opportunity allows you to shape every aspect of the function—from team structure and hiring to technical standards and operational processes. You'll oversee all statistical programming activities for the organization's oncology programs while building a world-class team from the ground up.
What You'll Do
- Launch and develop the statistical programming team, defining roles, capabilities, and career pathways
- Establish technical governance, programming standards, and quality frameworks for statistical analyses
- Lead all statistical programming efforts across oncology drug development and regulatory submissions
- Chart the strategic direction for statistical programming methodology and technology
- Partner closely with biometrics, clinical development, and regulatory teams to ensure alignment
- Cultivate a high-performing culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of statistical programming experience in biopharma or pharmaceutical settings
- Demonstrated success building and leading statistical programming teams
- Expert-level proficiency in SAS, clinical trial data analysis, and regulatory submission standards
- Oncology experience strongly preferred
- Strategic thinker capable of designing processes, setting standards, and defining technical direction
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
