The National Strategic Research Institute (NSRI) in Omaha, Douglas County is hiring a Director, Prophylactics & Therapeutics (D-P&T) to lead strategic research initiatives. This full-time position offers the opportunity to shape national defense research and development across prevention and treatment technologies. You'll report to the Associate Executive Director for CWMD Allied Programs and drive innovation in critical capability areas that advance the institute's mission.

About the Role

As Director, Prophylactics & Therapeutics, you'll oversee the strategic direction and execution of research projects addressing complex national security challenges. This leadership role combines hands-on technical expertise with program management responsibility, positioning you at the center of emerging research priorities and collaborative partnerships.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the planning, development, and execution of research initiatives aligned with institutional and national strategic objectives
  • Manage technical capability development and advancement within your directorate
  • Build and mentor a team focused on prophylactic and therapeutic research solutions
  • Collaborate with government agencies, academic partners, and industry stakeholders on research priorities and outcomes
  • Contribute to grant proposals, technical reports, and research publications
  • Guide resource allocation and budgeting decisions to maximize research impact
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, grant requirements, and federal regulations

What We're Looking For

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) in biomedical sciences, pharmacology, public health, or related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in prophylaxis and therapeutic development or research
  • Proven track record managing research teams and complex technical programs
  • Strong understanding of federal research priorities and funding landscapes
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build collaborative relationships
  • Strategic thinking and ability to set research vision within institutional frameworks
  • Experience with CBRNE countermeasures or national security research preferred
