Director, Product Design

Rubrik is hiring a Director, Product Design to lead our design strategy and team from our Palo Alto office. This is a full-time opportunity to shape the product experience for a data security innovator at scale.

About the Role

As Director of Product Design at Rubrik, you'll lead a talented design team and drive the product design vision across our platform. You'll partner closely with product management, engineering, and leadership to deliver thoughtful, user-centric experiences that solve complex data security challenges. This is a strategic role that combines hands-on design leadership with organizational impact, ensuring our products are both powerful and elegant.

What You'll Do

• Define and evolve Rubrik's design strategy, ensuring consistency and excellence across our product portfolio
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product designers, fostering a culture of innovation and design craftsmanship
• Drive user research and insights that inform product direction and design decisions
• Establish design systems, patterns, and standards that enable team velocity without sacrificing quality
• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to align design with business objectives and technical feasibility
• Advocate for user needs and design excellence in cross-functional discussions and strategic planning

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of product design experience, with at least 3 years leading design teams
• Proven track record shipping consumer or enterprise products that users love
• Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design thinking, from strategy through execution
• Strong leadership skills and experience growing and developing design talent
• Deep understanding of user research, interaction design, and information architecture
• Comfort in fast-moving environments and ability to balance design rigor with business realities
• Experience in B2B, enterprise, or security-focused products is a plus
