Digital Promise is hiring a Director, Edtech R&D to lead our research and development initiatives across the United States. This is a full-time position guiding the vision, strategy, and execution of educational technology solutions that strengthen teaching and learning in schools nationwide.
About the Role
As Director of Edtech R&D, you will shape how research-informed edtech gets designed, tested, and scaled for real classrooms. You'll lead a cross-functional team that works directly with educators, academic researchers, and product developers to identify what students need and what actually works. Your focus is on bridging the research-to-practice gap and ensuring that new educational technologies are both effective and accessible to diverse learners.
What You'll Do
- Set strategic direction for edtech research and development initiatives that center equity and evidence
- Oversee the design, pilot, and evaluation of educational technology solutions in partnership with schools and districts
- Build and manage collaborative relationships among researchers, educators, product teams, and stakeholders
- Guide the research methodology and evidence-gathering process to validate effectiveness and impact
- Communicate findings and recommendations to educators, funders, policymakers, and the broader edtech community
- Identify emerging challenges in education and translate them into actionable R&D priorities

- Demonstrated leadership experience in educational technology, research, or product development
- Deep understanding of K-12 education, educational equity, and evidence-based practice
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex partnerships
- Strong project and program management skills with attention to outcomes and impact
- Excellent communication abilities for technical and non-technical audiences
- Commitment to advancing educational innovation that benefits all students
