DIR Floortime Player

Kinder Growth Therapy is seeking a dedicated DIR Floortime Player in Belvidere, New Jersey, to join our team supporting children with autism. This is a full-time position where you'll use playful, relationship-based engagement to help children develop meaningful connections and unlock their potential.

Position Summary

As a DIR Floortime Player at Kinder Growth Therapy, you'll implement Developmental, Individual difference, Relationship-based (DIR) floortime methodology to support children's social and emotional growth. You'll meet children at their developmental level, follow their interests, and create joyful learning moments that build confidence and strengthen relationships with caregivers and peers. Your work contributes directly to children's ability to engage meaningfully with the world around them.

Core Duties

• Engage in floor-level play sessions that follow the child's lead and interests
• Apply DIR floortime principles to scaffold social, emotional, and communication development
• Build and nurture relationships with each child through consistent, responsive interaction
• Observe and document child progress and engagement during floortime sessions
• Collaborate with therapists, educators, and families to align strategies and support goals
• Create a safe, playful environment where children feel understood and valued
• Adapt activities and approaches based on each child's unique learning style and preferences

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong understanding of autism spectrum disorder and neurodivergent-affirming approaches
• Familiarity with DIR floortime methodology or willingness to develop expertise
• Excellent observational and listening skills
• Ability to follow a child's lead and respond authentically in play
• Patient, flexible, and genuinely enthusiastic about working with children
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with families and interdisciplinary teams
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience or certification a plus
