Union College is hiring a part-time Dean of Students Work Study Front Desk Assistant at its campus in Schenectady, New York — a student employment opportunity supporting the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, Community Standards, Title IX, and Title VI.
About the Role
This position is open exclusively to Union College students who have been awarded Federal Work-Study funding as part of their financial aid package. As the front-facing representative of a central student affairs hub, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming, organized, and professional office environment for the campus community.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all visitors, students, and staff who come to the VP of Student Affairs, Community Standards, Title IX, and Title VI office
- Answer incoming calls, respond to general inquiries, and route more complex questions to the appropriate staff member
- Greet walk-in visitors with professionalism and provide accurate information about office services and procedures
- Assist with scheduling, appointment coordination, and managing calendars as needed
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, mail, and office communications
- Maintain front desk organization, manage office supplies, and support general administrative tasks
- Uphold confidentiality standards consistent with student affairs and Title IX/Title VI processes
What We're Looking For
- Current Union College student with an active Federal Work-Study award (contact finaid@union.edu to confirm your eligibility before applying)
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with a welcoming, professional demeanor
- Ability to handle sensitive situations and confidential information with discretion
- Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain a consistent part-time schedule during the academic year
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment with competing requests
- Basic proficiency with office technology, email, and scheduling tools
