The Nuclear Material Control & Accountability (NMCA) Group at Los Alamos National Laboratory is hiring a D&D Material Control & Accountability Specialist 1/2 in White Rock, Los Alamos County — a full-time, on-site role safeguarding nuclear material in support of the Laboratory's Weapons Program.
About the Role
As a D&D Material Control & Accountability Specialist 1/2 within the Security Programs Division, you will help provide nuclear material safeguards oversight across Decontamination & Decommissioning (D&D) operations. Working alongside the NMCA team, you will play a hands-on part in keeping Los Alamos National Laboratory aligned with federal nuclear material accountability standards. This position is based in White Rock and is not a remote opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver nuclear material safeguards oversight in support of the Laboratory's Weapons Program.
- Help ensure ongoing compliance with DOE Order 474.2 governing material control and accountability.
- Monitor and support Decontamination & Decommissioning (D&D) activities to confirm proper handling of nuclear material.
- Coordinate with NMCA personnel and Security Programs Division staff to uphold accountability requirements.
Qualifications
- Motivation and enthusiasm for working within a nuclear material safeguards and accountability environment.
- Familiarity with, or the ability to learn, DOE Order 474.2 and related material control standards.
- Capacity to support D&D operations and contribute to a safety- and compliance-focused team.
- Willingness to work on-site in White Rock, Los Alamos County.
