Brunswick City School District is hiring a Full-Time Cross Country Assistant Varsity Coach to support and develop our talented student-athletes. Join our athletic program based at Brunswick High School for the 2026-2027 school year.
About the Role
As an Assistant Varsity Coach for Cross Country, you'll work alongside our head coach to mentor and train dedicated runners, helping them build endurance, speed, and competitive skills. This role combines teaching technique, organizing training sessions, and fostering a positive team culture that emphasizes both athletic excellence and personal growth.
What You'll Do
- Develop and deliver training programs that build athletes' conditioning and cross country performance
- Conduct practice sessions focused on running form, pacing, and race strategy
- Support athletes' fitness progression throughout the season
- Contribute to team morale and uphold program standards
- Collaborate with the coaching staff to prepare runners for meets and championships
- Monitor athlete wellness and safety during training and competition
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as an assistant varsity coach or competitive cross country background
- Valid Pupil Activity Permit (PAP) as required by the district
- Knowledge of cross country training principles and race preparation
- Ability to inspire and motivate student-athletes
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Commitment to student success both on and off the course
