Scotland Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center is hiring a full-time Cook to prepare and serve nutritious, delicious meals that support the health and wellness of our residents in Scotland Neck, Halifax County. This is a hands-on culinary role that directly impacts resident satisfaction and quality of care.

Role Overview

As a Cook at our health and rehabilitation facility, you will prepare meals that meet established nutritional standards, dietary restrictions, and our approved menus. You'll work closely with our dietary team to ensure every meal supports our residents' individual health needs while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and kitchen cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals and portions according to approved menus and dietary specifications for our residents
• Follow all food safety protocols and sanitation standards to maintain a clean, secure kitchen environment
• Accommodate residents' special dietary needs, food allergies, and medical restrictions as required
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and effectively
• Coordinate meal timing and presentation to ensure residents receive properly prepared, hot meals
• Communicate with supervisory and dietary staff regarding special requests and ingredient concerns

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a kitchen or food service environment
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles
• Ability to read and follow recipes, menus, and dietary instructions accurately
• Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting regularly
• Reliable, punctual attendance and strong work ethic
• Food Handler certification or willingness to obtain certification
