Controller, Plant

Magna International, Inc is hiring a Controller, Plant to lead financial operations at our Excelsior Springs facility in Clay County, Missouri. This is a full-time position managing accounting, cost controls, and financial reporting for a manufacturing plant operation.

About the Role

The Plant Controller is the senior accounting leader at our Excelsior Springs location, responsible for all financial management, reporting, and compliance activities. You'll oversee a dynamic finance team supporting day-to-day plant operations while ensuring accurate, timely financial information for corporate leadership and external stakeholders. This role bridges finance and operations, giving you direct influence on plant profitability and strategic decisions.

What You'll Do

• Manage plant-level general ledger accounts, journals, and monthly financial close processes
• Prepare and analyze cost accounting reports, variance analysis, and financial statements
• Develop and monitor departmental budgets; track spending against plan and adjust forecasts as conditions change
• Oversee payroll processing, expense management, and accounts payable operations
• Implement and maintain internal financial controls to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
• Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit-readiness throughout the year
• Partner with plant management on financial planning, performance metrics, and operational improvements
• Lead and mentor accounting staff; develop team capabilities and manage professional growth

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• CPA or equivalent accounting certification strongly preferred
• 5+ years of plant or manufacturing accounting experience
• Proven expertise in general ledger management, cost accounting, and financial analysis
• Strong knowledge of internal controls, audit processes, and regulatory compliance
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems and ERP software
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
